Project One Haiti, a local non-profit organization, is getting ready to return to Haiti on June 9. they are making their sixth trip down to assist 26 orphans in an orphanage in Carrefour Haiti. While on this trip they will be gardening, building a new cistern for clean water, and loving on the children. 

On past trips they have purchased a new stove so the children did not get burned by the sparks from cooking on charcoal, built a chicken coop so they could eat eggs and meat, planted a roof top garden, and visited tent cities to pray with those without homes after the earthquake. 

Melissa Peace, from Douglasville helped with the chickens. In the attached photo, she is seen carrying “Henny” to her new home at the orphanage. 

Sabrina Serna, also from Douglasville, worked in the garden with Frantzy, one of the young boys in the orphanage. 

“Al” was also a visitor as he, through Robert Caldwell of Tallapoosa, taught the children about brushing their teeth and about “Jonah and the Whale.” Al was the biggest hit of the bunch since none of the children had ever seen anyone quite like him. 

“Each trip is unique with new needs coming each time we go down.” says Angie Jeffers, Project One Haiti director. “There is always so much we can do but loving on the children is the best part.” there are now 21 children that need to be sponsored so they can attend school, have new clothing and have regular meals.
