Iago Falque, the 22 year old Spaniard joined us on loan at the start of the season from Juventus, we then signed him permanently in January then loaned him straight to Southampton. I live in Southampton and went to see one match at St Marys this season just to see Iago Falque play. They played Leicester and were beaten by two goals to nil, according to my friend, it was their worst game of the season and the only game Iago has played for them. All in all, I felt he played well for his debut, made a lot of runs down the wing, never made a bad pass from what I can remember. but he had so little amount of passes to make as the team hardly passed to him, despite making good runs on the wing and through the middle once the manager, Nigel Adkins, switched his position to attacking mid, Falque’s natural position. I don’t know if the team didn’t pass to him because it was his debut or because he was not playing to their strengths. the next day I spoke to my friend about the game, he barely ever misses a match and apparently researched him and saw some of his games in the Europa League for us. My friend felt that he never really put a foot wrong, but said he was playing like he was still at Spurs, and was using our strengths, like the quick wing runs. I did understand where he was coming from, but he also said it was the worst game of the season, so in my opinion that was the main reason for him not being looked at for matches now. Now my reasoning for writing this, is to find out why you think he might not be getting game time, I know the Saints fans want to see him play. I am confused to why because I feel he has the quality to push on and improve. All in all, there are few games left in the Championship and hopefully he will get a chance to show what Saints could have used, however in my opinion his progress has been hindered which means that it may take him longer to reach our first team.
